Diversity & inclusion within organisations
You can’t build diverse teams without linking diversity to inclusion. You haven’t ‘won’ if you have a diverse team either, because inclusion is where the real work begins. Employees feel included in their workplace when they have equal opportunities: from the way they are treated during the recruitment process to the way they are managed, trained, evaluated and promoted. But this cannot happen automatically. To build an inclusive workplace, employers must provide equal opportunities to all potential and existing employees. They should also revisit and improve their procedures as necessary to ensure they are respectful of all people, regardless of protected characteristics.
Figures show that diversity decreases in the higher layers of the organizational structure. However, the benefits of diversity are achieved if diversity is present at all organizational levels. That is why recruiting diverse professionals for (interim) management and director positions is important, as is improving the opportunities for diverse employees to progress. Invest in advancement and recruitment of diverse and inclusive (interim) professionals for management and board positions!

At &deBlauw we underline the importance of diversity and for that reason we have signed the SER Diversity Charter. In recent years, we have mediated an average of 30 percent female professionals or professionals with a non-Western background. This percentage is around 50 percent for our longlists.
