Director QHSE
About the position
As the QHSE Director, you lead the QHSE department with responsibility for ensuring quality and safety across the organisation. The focus in this role is on quality (assurance) and optimising activities, while managing the increasing complexity of projects now and in the future. Safety is a core value, deeply embedded in the organisation. By leading the 'Say YES to Safety' and 'High 5 for Quality' programmes you will create a culture where safety and quality are fundamental values that shape every decision and action within Van Oord.
The QHSE Department is dedicated to ensuring compliance with industry standards and fostering a culture of safety and quality. Van Oord desires to be best in class when it comes to QHSE. You lead and enhance the QHSE processes at Van Oord, ensuring alignment with our business goals and project objectives. Your primary focus is to maintain and improve the Van Oord, HSE Quality and Document management processes, securing the company's license to operate. This role reports directly to the CEO and involves managing a global team of approximately 180 professionals, with six direct reports. Key challenges include developing and deploying QHSE policies, in particular process quality, managing budgets, supporting business and project teams, and ensuring continual improvement in all QHSE activities.
Your profile
- Experience in QHSE senior leadership role, preferably within the offshore, dredging, construction or process industry
- A clear vision and strategy on QHSE, with strong focus on Quality, with the ability to elevate the QHSE department to the next level
- Experience in initiating changes (cultural/ awareness) from a staff position
- Academic degree
- Good command of the English language. Dutch is highly desirable
